it's time for shiny, warm, bright, summer-y things!

YOU DID IT! (LET’S DO IT AGAIN)
June 25, 2025 • Issue No. 14
Can you feel this heat?! The first day of summer ushered in a heat wave for much of the East Coast, NYC included. It’s blazing out here! But you know what else is on fire…?
You. 🔥
& Your Goals. 🔥 🔥
In Issue No. 7 on March 19, we marked the start of Spring with the Vernal Equinox. In the true spirit of the spring season, we planted some seeds. One of these describes you:
A: For the last 13 weeks, you’ve been paying attention to that seed you planted and it made progress!
B: For the last 13 weeks, you’ve been sort of paying attention to that seed and you saw a little movement!
C: You didn’t plant a seed 13 weeks ago, but now you’re wishing that you had!
One calendar season feels like forever when you’re standing at the starting line, but when you’re looking back from the finish it’s gone in the blink of an eye. I couldn’t even have imagined what June would look like wayyy back in March, but I remember writing that newsletter like it was yesterday.
No matter what happened between then and now, I have some really good news: It’s a new season and we’re running it back. The start of summer represents another chance to check in with yourself about what you want to complete, accomplish, stop, or start by the time the leaves start to fall.
So, I’m going to say again what I said in the spring: Hop into your overalls, grab a rake, and slather on some SPF. It’s time to farm some goals. 🧑🏾🌾
But for summer, I’m adding another element (inspired by James Clear’s Atomic Habits newsletter)
This time around set a goal that feels like the sun! One that makes you light up!
A marathon runner spends significantly more time training than she does jumping around at the finish line. A chef spends more time experimenting with a dish than they do watching patrons curl their toes in delight. Beyoncé spends more time conceptualizing and rehearsing her shows than she spends performing.
Happy runners enjoy training, happy chefs enjoy experimenting, happy Beyoncé’s enjoy rehearsing. You’re more likely to practice if you’re enjoying yourself. Since we’ll spend far more time progressing along the journey than we will enjoying the destination, make sure that you’re in love with the process. To build in motivation, make sure that whatever you’re working on — and working towards — optimizes your enthusiasm and joy and energy.
💎 ☀️Choose goals that radiate JOY! ☀️💎
P.S. Thank you to those of you who took the survey I plugged in the last issue. My business partner, Michaela Ablon, and I co-launched Wrkwell, a boutique consulting lab specifically focused on soft-skills this morning and we’re excited for all that is to come. I will keep you updated.

Remember that “what you pay attention to grows”: What’s an area of your life (work or otherwise) where you’d like to pay more attention?
What’s a goal you can set in that area?
How will working towards (not just accomplishing!) this goal bring you joy?
How will you celebrate crossing the finish line on Monday, September 22nd?!
Just like last season, I’ll remind you about the upcoming Autumnal Equinox in every issue.
🧑🏾🌾 ☀️ Let’s get goal farming JOYFULLY! You’re 0 weeks in and there are 13 to go!
