PREPARE THE HARVEST 🌾

October 10, 2025 • Issue No. 21

And we’re back! It’s time for our third go-round of our quarterly Sparkle Sheet tradition: seasonal goal setting. In spring (Issue #7), we started our ‘goal-farming’ with one thing we wanted to change or improve by summer. In summer (Issue #14), we added a joyful twist. Now it’s fall, and it’s time to try it again.

The autumnal equinox that happened on September 22nd represents balance. After a summer of long days and short nights, time was evenly split between light and dark for just one day. And now, with the equinox in the rearview we’ll be headed towards winter when dark, starry nights are the star of the show. On the agrarian calendar the first day of fall meant that the peak season of sun was finished and frost was coming meaning it was time to get all the crops out of the fields aka the harvest. That’s why so many of our symbols of fall — cornucopias, apple and pumpkin picking, and fiery leaves floating toward the ground — are about clearing.

If you didn’t join us in setting a goal for the season in spring or summer, don’t be discouraged. Join us for fall. And as you design your goal for the new season consider what you want to clear out. Maybe it’s a side project that you’ve been putting off because the thought of starting feels overwhelming. It hasn’t taken priority because it’s not mission critical, but it would improve your day-to-day if it were finished. Let’s use the momentum of this new season to get it done.

The shifts from spring to summer, from summer to fall, and from fall to winter are gradual ones. (And thank god for the transition because I live for jacket season!) The balance between daylight and night tips a few minutes each day. The temperature slips until you’re wearing a whole new wardrobe. Leaves drift from the trees a few at a time. Think about this season as a gradual shift toward winter, toward clearing, and toward your goal. The key is attention. As adrienne maree brown writes, “what you pay attention to grows”. Figure you out what you could clear by paying a little attention each day or week. And you could go into winter ready for a new start. ❄️
