SUMMER, SUMMER, SUMMER TIME

the approaching summer solstice means it's time to center joy ☀️

SUMMER, SUMMER, SUMMERTIME

June 17, 2026 • Issue No. 39

This is TODAY - I hope you can join us!

On June 17, Michaela and I are hosting a virtual discussion event called THE BUZZ 🐝 🐝. It’s free, there’s no pre-work, and you can come as you are. This time we’ll be buzzing about imposter phenomenon — which is very impacted by mottos, mantras, and deep-seated beliefs about our own ability.

Good Morning Sparkle Gang!

It’s another glorious Wednesday. If you joined before the Spring Equinox, then you know we take the change of seasons very seriously around here! If you’ve been here since the very start: congrats, we’ve come full circle to another summer solstice! If you’re just joining us, grab a pair of overalls and let me get you up to speed.

A Full Year of Goal-Farming 🧑🏾‍🌾 💎

At the Spring Equinox 🧑🏾‍🌾 🌱, we set goals for incremental growth. Like watering a newly planted seed, the intention here is consistency.

At the Summer Solstice 🧑🏾‍🌾 ☀️, we set goals that prioritize our own enthusiasm. Like the sun that shines all season, the intention here is to radiate joy.

At the Autumnal Equinox 🍁, we set goals that bring closure. Like the close of the harvest season before the frost, the intention is clear minds (and clear to-do lists).

At the Winter Solstice 🧑🏾‍🌾 ❄️, we set goals that center optimism. Like the sun gives us a few more minutes each day, the intention is to look forward to new beginnings.

Splitting the year into time-bound chunks I can actually wrap my mind around (each of these seasons is 13 weeks long) has helped me to feel like I’m making progress as the year marches on, instead of feeling like the time is slipping by. Based on the feedback I’ve gotten from you all 💕, it’s been a helpful approach.

This season, hone in on a growth area that would benefit from joy. This could be related to your career, relationships, personal growth, mental health, physical fitness, organization, art practice, friendships, finances, nutrition…it could be anything!

For this sunshine-y season…

☀️ The goal is not powering through, the goal is to enjoy the process.

☀️ The goal is not the destination, the goal is the journey there.

☀️ The goal is not surviving the hardest thing you can imagine, the goal is to practice using your imagination to spark joy for yourself.

So, this time around set a goal that feels like the sun! ☀️ One that makes you light up! Choose something you can work toward joyfully. Because we spend more time in progress than anywhere else.

A marathon runner spends significantly more time training than she does jumping around at the finish line. A chef spends more time experimenting with a dish than they do watching patrons curl their toes in delight. Beyoncé spends more time conceptualizing and rehearsing her shows than she spends performing.

Happy runners enjoy training, happy chefs enjoy experimenting, happy pop stars enjoy rehearsing. You’re more likely to practice if you’re enjoying yourself. Since we’ll spend far more time progressing along the journey than we will enjoying the destination, make sure that you’re in love with the process. To build in motivation, make sure that whatever you’re working on — and working towards — optimizes your enthusiasm and joy and energy.

Happy Summer (and happy farming!), Sparkle Gang! 💎 🧑🏾‍🌾

  • Remember that “what you pay attention to grows”: What’s an area of your life (work or otherwise) where you’d like to pay more attention?

  • What’s a goal you can set in that area?

  • How will working towards (not just accomplishing!) this goal bring you joy?

  • How will you celebrate crossing the finish line on Tuesday, September 22nd?!

I’ll remind you about the upcoming Autumn Equinox in every issue.

  • 🧑🏾‍🌾 ☀️ Let’s get goal farming JOYFULLY! You’re 0 weeks in and there are 13 to go! Have fun with it!
